Nyamira residents have been cautioned against conmen duping employment seekers in the region.

Speaking to the press in Nyamira town on Wednesday, the county’s Public Service Board Chairman Peter Nyakundi said that the county is not charging any money for jobs.

According to the chairman, they recruit people based on the requirements in advertisements and therefore denied any favoritism against others. He said that anybody who will be found canvassing for the job will be disqualified.

“We are a constitutional body mandated to employ workers for the county. We abide by law and therefore anybody soliciting for money from others is doing it contrary to the law,” said Nyakundi.

He added, “I ask applicants for the positions we advertised to be wary of some fraudsters who are out soliciting for money from interested individuals promising to give them jobs in the county. Anybody canvassing for a job risk disqualified.”

The CPSB chair also warned those misleading and stealing from innocent residents that they would be arrested.

He asked members of the public to report anybody soliciting for money from them to the police or any other relevant authority so that a step can be taken against them.

“We will not succeed in the war against corruption if we cannot join hands. Therefore, I ask members of the public to help us arrest these fraudsters,” he appealed.
