Women in Nyamira County have been encouraged to apply for development funds being given by the government to enhance their businesses.
Addressing women in various centers on Monday in the county, Nyamira woman representative Alice Chae said the government has channelled enough funds for women empowerment.
The legislator pointed out that gaining access to the funds will see women boost their living standards and that of their families.
“Women should feel free, come forward and apply for the government funds,” she said.
Chae said the government has put in place strategies that will help improve the welfare of women.
She said women are a key pillar to the development agenda and engaging them in the economy will help boost production.
The lawmaker pledged to spearhead policies that will advocate for the rights of women.
She further called on women to be on the front line and apply for any available leadership positions.
The legislator added that women have been given the opportunity by the constitution and that they should use it to better the society.
