The CORD leadership in Nyamira county assembly has been criticised for failing to guide the county government following persistent corruption claims against the leadership.
A section of the youths led by Kevin Ongeri, allied to Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire on Thursday raised the alarm and called for immediate demotion of the majority leader and his chief whip counterpart Peter Maroro.
They said the undoing of the county government was as a result of the leadership failing to guide the ODM led county government under the leadership of John Nyagarama.
“We are very dissatisfied with the way the CORD leadership in the county assembly is leading its businesses. They have been watching the county government crumble and this will be major undoing for our 2017 national elections. Residents will directly link the undoing of the county to our presidential candidate,” Ongeri said.
According to them, the majority in the assembly had failed to lead troops to curb the alleged rampant corruption in the county and accused them of watching the governor fail to crack the whip on the accused persons in corruption.
“They have a clear mandate to guide the county leadership by raising issues to do with corruption. Instead, they are ganging against people who condemn corruption in the county,” Ongeri added.
They called for reinstating of former majority leader’s Beuttah Omanga who was toppled following corruption claims that he has since been vindicated by the court.
Nyamira county government has been in headlines recently with the leadership accused of construction a 7M gate which the leadership has since denied and evaluated it at Sh2.5 million.
