Small-holder coffee farmers from Nyamonya Farmers Co-operative Society (N.F.C.S) beneficiaries from the Coffee Development Fund(CDF)loans have been urged to use the loans to practise modern crop husbandry to maximize their payments through good quality control practices.
Nyamonya F.C.S Chairman,Moses Oroko has reminded the beneficiaries of the loans that,the loans will facilitate them revive their coffee farming sub-sector which had nose dived due to poor management by the previous co-operative leaderships in the area.
Speaking in his office at Nyamonya F.C.S headquarters at Nyakegogi-Iyabe shopping centre, Giasaiga sub-location in Bobasi sub-county, Oroko clarified that, the management approved the CDF loans for all members to benefit and ensure the sector which contributes to area residents' economic wellbeing is revived.
Oroko expressed confidence that the loans will revive the coffee sub-sector in the region to ensure farmers go back to their farms to practice coffee farming as an agri-business venture that will hopefully transform their standards of living and those of their immediate families.
He clarified that the loans given to the farmers by Wakenya Pamoja Sacco Society was meant to facilitate farmers improve on their crop management and husbandry to maximize on the production of quality coffee beans that will attract international coffee market consumers.
"As a management Board we are determined to assist our members produce quality grade coffee for the export market and to enhance high returns on their coffee produced. It is against this background we resolved that all our members be approved as qualified to benefit from the Government Coffee Development Fund loans to boost their coffee farming activities,"stated Oroko.
