Kiambu County Women Representative Ann Nyokabi has announced that she will be setting up a resource centre within Kiambu County where women can seek information on business opportunities and reproductive health.
Speaking on Wednesday in Ruiru PEFA Church grounds where she donated 300 kits of re-usable sanitary towels, Nyokabi said the centre will help women in the county stay in touch with the services being offered by both county and national governments.
"Not many women especially in the rural areas are aware of what is happening in both the county and national governments. That is why I will use part of the Sh7 million allocated to me to start a one stop shop where women in the county can go and get all the latest information on business opportunities, health among other things," said Nyokabi.
The women rep noted that despite there being several women oriented funds, many are yet to benefit due to lack of information.
She said the resource centre will help empower women by ensuring they are updated regularly with the right information.
"Information is power and we cannot claim to be empowering women when we don't give them the right information," she said.
