The Orange Democratic Movement Party has started recruiting youth representatives from every ward across the nation.
The representatives will report directly to the office of the Secretary General.
The exercise which is spearheaded by the party’s Secretary General, Ababu Namwamba, will see the formation of a Youth Alliance constituting 1,450 members.
The representatives will hold their first meeting at Simba Lodge in November 15, in Naivasha.
Mr Namwamba, who addressed a group of ODM youth at Mash Park Hotel in Kisii said the exercise will kick off from October 27.
He said the party will rely on information given from the all branches across the country on the commitment of individuals who will be chosen.
“We are really determined to make the party strong and as the SG, I have directed all branches across the country to elect a vibrant party youth from every ward and forward the names to my office," he said.
"We want to work with the young generation because it is the top agenda in ODM manifesto."
The Budalang’i lawmaker said the youth will be mandated to carry out civic education on the ODM manifesto at ward level and will be expected to organise joint rallies in every constituency across the country till 2017.
“The party will support the youth and they will be expected to carry a civic education to Kenyans from the ward level. They are expected to represent the party at key functions at the grass roots. Besides, they will organise rallies at constituency level with the help from my office,” he said.
Mr Namwamba said the Youth League will be distinct from the current ODM youth league since members will be expected to be mobile rather than sitting in an office.
