The Opposition has been urged to offer constructive criticism and stop distracting the government from executing its mandate, a group of Kikuyu elders has said.

Members of the Kikuyu Elders Association who had camped in Nakuru for the group's annual meeting urged Cord to offer constructive criticism.

Chairman John Maigwa said even though it’s good to oppose as that is one of the mandates for the opposition, the criticisms should be positive for the benefit of Kenyans.

"We are not refusing to oppose the government but let it be positive criticism and of importance to every Kenyan," said Maigwa at a press conference in Nakuru on Saturday.

They claimed the opposition is on a mission to distract the Jubilee government from executing its mandate.

They urged Cord leader Raila Odinga to join the government in initiating development projects that will benefit Kenyans and wait for elections in 2017.

"Raila should join the government to initiate projects and stop opposing everything it does," said Maigwa.

The elders drawn from various communities urged the opposition to run its mandate in a respectable manner.
