It has emerged that the targeted beneficiaries of Uwezo Fund in Kibra and Langata shy away from the process involved in acquisition of the loans.

According to Elector Opar, Officer in charge of Youth Funds in Kibra and Langata, the targeted groups especially the youth, are not willing to follow the procedures required to access the funds.

"There is false information going round in the area that we are not giving out Uwezo Fund. That is not true at all; the problem is that our youth are not patient enough to follow the process as required. There are those who collect the application forms but fail to return them saying that they are too demanding," said Opar in her office on Wednesday.

"The process is clear right from registration of a group to submission of the required information and documents. There are those who simply want to come and get the funds without following the due process, something that cannot work," she added.

The officer has appealed to the groups interested in getting the loans to visit her office to be briefed on how to go about the process so as to avoid being misled.

She commended the groups that have benefited from the funds and especially those that have started their repayments.

"We are doing well in Kibra because the groups that complied with the rules and received the funds are working very hard. As per now, we have been receiving repayments as installments and that is promising."
