Students sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2015 from Masaba North schools are expected to record a high performance despite having spent the better part of third term at home, a senior official has said.
Speaking at Rigoma Secondary School during an award ceremony for top performing form three students who sat an annual indexing exam in July, secondary school head teachers association chairman Duke Ogamba expressed him optimism of good performances in the final exams.
He said despite the teachers strike, most teachers who were taking on form fours were in class hence learning activities were not disrupted.
“As a branch, we are hopeful that this year our candidates will perform well because they have worked hard. Our teachers were in class despite the strike that paralysed learning. Hopefully, their efforts will be rewarded in March,” he said.
Mr Ogamba on Wednesday said the region expects to attain an overall mean of 7.00, an increment from 5.05 that was recorded in 2014 exams.
“We are having gradual improvement but I think the schools around have done their best since the year started. The mean will definitely shoot because we saw that in mock exams after they recorded a mean of 6.25, the highest ever in the local exams,” he added.
He urged candidates to avoid cases of examination cheating in a bid to keep the region’s dream alive.
