Kitutu Masaba MP has been accused of personalising the party by failing to honour decisions made by elected officials at the grassroots.
This comes a few days to the much anticipated ODM grassroots elections that were postponed in early August to allow the party set mechanisms to ensure the polls will be free and fair.
But on Monday, a section of ODM officials from Nyamira County took on their chairman Timothy Bosire and accused him of dictatorship.
According to them, the MP who also serves as the party’s national treasurer has been pushing for the ouster of certain candidates who are said to be unfriendly to him from the race from the race.
“ODM isn’t a personal property of someone and we cannot allow this trend to continue. Democracy within the party is important and the Chairman cannot decide who to run and who not to. We have a right to contest and he knows that well,” said the outgoing Youth Secretary Elvis Ombune.
They accused the MP of planning to impose leaders to ODM loyalist in the fourth coming elections and vowed to expose the MP to the National governing council.
“We have written to the national governing council about what the MP is doing and we will ensure he is acted upon,” added Sam Oginda, assistant secretary.
However, Bosire denied the claims and challenged contestants to ‘face the race’ without necessarily ‘panicking’.
Bosire is a close confidant of ODM party leader Raila Odinga and his loyalty was rewarded with his appointment as the party’s national treasurer.
