Residents of Moguisii village in Nyamira County have once again raised questions about the government’s ability to handle matters security after the latest murder of a middle aged man.

Samuel Ombogo succumbed to injuries after been shot allegedly by a group of armed people in his compound on Sunday morning.

The residents have now called on the government to  carry out a total overhaul on security personnel in the area besides putting the provincial administration on check.

“These crimes are escalating and I believe this could be the fifth or sixth incident. The government has failed to assure us of security which is its prime mandate. I would like to call upon the government to do a total overhaul on security besides scrutinizing our provincial administration,” said Peter Ombwori on behalf of the residents.

They threatened to push for removal of a nearby police post in Chepilat market on allegations that the police have been collaborating with criminal elements to antagonize them.

“We have always seen a police post near this place and they are paid through our taxes. We don’t trust them and we will continue pushing for their removal from this place because of their incompetence,” he added.

Area Chief, David Ogega confirmed the incident and vowed to continue working with the locals to maintain the state of security to a desirable level.

“We have shared this pain together and that is needed to work together in a bid to fight this common enemy. Let’s avoid blame games and forge ahead,” he said.
