South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya has yet again hit out at Kisii Governor James Ongwae over an employment slots deal before the last general election.

Speaking on Friday at Nyasasa Primary School in Chitago, Borabu Ward, Nyamweya claimed that according to the pre-election agreement, the county secretary position was to be given to the South Mugirango people.

“We agreed that the county secretary post was to be given to us, an agreement that was floated after the elections with Governor Ongwae defaulting on the deal,” claimed the legislator.

In a quick rejoinder, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi told off the MP that the constituency is the giant beneficiary with three senior positions in the executive.

“I accept that you did not get the secretary post but what about the three other senior officers who are the Chairman for County Public Service Board David Kombo, and ministers; Kodeck Omwancha for Finance and Economic planning and Moses Onderi ECM for Lands and Physical planning who have been employed from your area? We compensated by giving you the three giant slots,” Maangi said.

The current county secretary, Johnstone Ndege, hails from Kitutu Chache North Constituency.

Nyamweya rubbished accused Ongwae of derailing development in the constituency alleging it has been side-lined for the last two years.

“What can Ongwae say he has done for South Mugirango people? We have not seen any road getting constructed or even initiating good projects like he has done in other areas,” said the legislator who is said to be eying for Kisii gubernatorial seat in the 2017 election.

Maangi said the county would use the available resources to work on roads in the sub-county but said they will first agree on which roads to be murramed.

The South Mugirango MP has been at logger-heads with governor Ongwae recently accusing him of laxity and side-lining the constituency on development.

Kisii County has nine sub-counties.
