Much like a person trying to find closure to get back control of their lives, as a nation, we need to get up and do the same.

Recently, the national government conducted a nationwide crackdown on illicit brews.

This is by far a brilliant move by the government; much better than any initiative made by the previous administrations in addressing alcoholism in the country.

However, we haven't begun hitting the nail on the head just yet. Take the middle-class Kenyans for example.

They are paid just enough to meet their commitments, with a little left to fund their occasional drinking sprees.

The one thing we Kenyans are failing to accept is that there is no such thing as good alcohol.

All alcohol is bad regardless of the brand or the price tag.

The only difference is the rate at which your preferred bottle steals your livelihood.

I greatly applaud the efforts made by the government on this matter but also in line with the spirit of sobering a staggering nation, I urge the government to address the mother issue, which is alcoholism itself.

Say, hypothetically, all Kenyans miraculously manage to elevate themselves to the middle-class which will mean launching of corruption to outer space, and abandoning ship, leaving corruption in some inescapable lead covered box, what will be left down here are a people causing uncontrollable havoc, drunk on what was branded “Good Acceptable liquor”.
