More than 100 chidlren will benefit from free ear treatment that has been organized by Moi Teaching and Referal Hospital, MTRH, Eldoret in partnership with a group of doctors from Holland.
According to Henry Ngoits, a senior doctor at MTRH, the excercise is scheduled to begin early next month and is expected to benefit children from poor families who cannot afford the treatment .
"We shall be treating ear infections, ear drops and tumors.We shall also treat those with injured ears and also carry out corrective surgery to those who were born with hearing problems",Ngoits explained.
"The project will be free as our partners from Holland have raised the funds to facilitate the treatment", he added.
Screening will be done between second and ninth of November while surgeries will be between tenth and 21st of the same month.
Ngoits says that some ear infections comes as a result of overcrowding and advises that children should kept away from crowded places. Low immunity is another cause he says.
