The Kenya National Association of Parents (KNAP) Thika branch Chairman Samuel Kung'u has asked parents to seek alternative ways of preparing candidates.
Addressing journalists in Thika Town on Wednesday Kung'u said the ongoing teachers' strike could go on even after the exams begin.
"Our advice to parents is to get other reasonable means and ways of having their children sitting for national exams prepared before the exam starts,” said Kung'u.
He said parents could hire private teachers to help their children at home as well as buy them revision materials that are readily available in bookshops.
Kung'u also noted that those near national libraries could allow their children especially those in form four to go for private studies there as the environment is conducive for studying.
He however warned parents and candidates against falling prey to conmen who may want to reap big from the current situation.
"Conmen know students are not very well prepared and parents want their kids to pass the exams and therefore will come up with all manner of ways of deceiving them to embrace shortcuts that may not end well,” he said.
