Parents have been urged to guide their school-going children during this August holiday to ensure that they are on the right track.

Addressing a public gathering in Muchatha on Wednesday, Kiambaa Sub-County Commissioner Wycliffe Munanda asked parents to ensure that their children do not engage in immoral activities during the holiday.

"Parents must make sure that their children are doing the right things during this vacation. We do not want to arrest any student because they have been found in the wrong," said Munanda.

He noted that many school-going children tend to go astray during holidays because of peer influence which sometimes lands them in drugs.

Munanda said that high level of discipline ought to be maintained by learners even when at home.

"Some children think that discipline is only necessary when they are within the confines of the schools. When they come home they say they are free to do anything. That should not be the case and that is why the parents must guide them," he said.
