A primary school in Naivasha has banned parents from bringing lunch to their pupils due to the high rate of insecurity. Milimani primary school chairman Paul Muraya said that the school management has noticed increased cases of strangers bringing food to the children. Some of the children have however claimed not to know the people bringing them food. Muraya added, “We fear the strangers might drop something dangerous. Since we take care of more than 2,500 students, we will bar any person from giving any food to any child during lunch hour starting from next week.” He said that any parent who brings food will be taken in for questioning. The school’s head teacher Martin Anyanga claimed that they were unsure of the people who walked in and out of the school during lunch hour. “We only see strangers coming with bags. We do not want to jeopardise the security of the pupils so we will take all precautions to protect them,” he added. Anyanga added that the school had also secured the services of a private security company to boost security at the school.
