Parents from Nyaronge primary school in Kitutu Msaba constituency have denied hampering teaching activities in the institution through members of the board.

Speaking in the institution on Monday during Annual General meeting, speaker after speaker asked teachers and school administration to desist from dragging them into the problems surrounding education standards.

Recently, teachers led by the institution’s head Josephine Nyangena accused parents of steering conflicts in the institution by using PTA chairman Cyrus Okero to dictate teachers on what, and when to teach.

“As parents, we have never interfered with the way the institution is being managed. Most of us are professionals and we have dedicated the issue to our teachers. If there is a problem in performance, the issue should be handled carefully by using professionals,” said Rashid Manwa.

According to them, the PTA chairman should be held responsible for fueling conflicts between the two and they asked educational officers from Gesima to take action before the situation escalates.

“The PTA chairman should not purport to speak on behalf of us. He should be held accountable and we call upon education officers to intervene and solve the issue,” added Alex Ongeri.

However, school head Nyangena asked parents to desist from politicizing education issues besides asking them to respect teachers.

“Matters education should be left to professionals. We should avoid politicizing education. My teachers are professional and no one should dictate them on what to do. However, we are ready to accommodate positive criticism,” she said.
