Parents from Mavoko Sub-County have been urged to rightfully guide children during the ongoing national teachers strike to prevent them going astray.
Speaking on Wednesday, the region's director of education, Joseph Kiema, said it is the time that parents need to feel the burden which teachers go through with the children whenever schools are on.
"Some of the parents do not want to stay with their children at home so as to feel the burden that teachers face whenever they are with the children in schools," said Kiema.
According to Kiema, majority of the parents were already complaining having their children at home in spite the fact that they have stayed with them for less than two weeks since the teachers downed their tools.
"Parents should stop complaining having their children with them at home for barely fortnight, teachers are always with the same children throughout the year," Kiema remarked.
He said education bosses such as directors and education quality assurance officers across the country were keen on the teachers’ salary increment issue arguing that in case it is implemented, then they will also strike to demand the same because teachers cannot earn more than their superiors.
