Parents with children living with disability have been urged not to hide their children but expose them to opportunities available to them

Speaking on Wednesday at Joytown School during the institution's visiting day, the school's deputy head teacher, Dickson Mwangi, said parents should take such children to school as other kids.

He castigated parents who live with children at home denying them an education.

"Parents of children living with disability who do not take them to school should even not exist. It is naive for a parent to hide his own child due to disability. As you can see, we have a population of more than 300 students now who are schooling and whose future is bright," said Mwangi.

He noted that the number of hidden children has been on the rise and called on chiefs in all areas to arrest offending parents. He further lauded the government's efforts to increase funding for the disabled claiming that this gives a future to such kids.

The deputy head called on parents to instil Godly values to the kids saying that the source of wisdom is God. He however refuted claims that his school was not feeding the students well where he called on the propagandists to bring evidence.

"Parents don't be deceived, as you can see, are your children hungry or not strong? The rumours I heard from one of the parents that your children do not receive a balanced diet is wrong and such should come out with full evidence. We are determined to bringing up your children healthy in education, spiritually, morally, psychologically and even mentally," he added.

The more that 300 students who have various disabilities had a good chance to interact with their parents and were also lectured by Moses Muriithi on how to stay strong in God.
