A street preacher was on Monday arrested by police in Makongeni, Thika for allegedly conning nine youths of their money.

Makongeni Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Mr Silas Munene confirmed the arrest. He said the suspect, will be arraigned before a Thika court on Tuesday. He said the youths complained of having been conned over Sh100,000 by the suspect.

“It is bad to have a man of God con us in the name of expanding our wealth. He calls himself Apostle John and also claims to be a gospel artist. He lives in Thika but preaches in Ruiru. We are, however, glad that police have arrested him after hiding for long,” said David Chomba one of the victims.

The youths who are jobless are said to have been asked to send the pastor Sh15,000 each to secure jobs.
