A youth was on Tuesday arraigned before a Nakuru court for stealing three chicken.

Duncan Kipkoech was accused of stealing three chicken valued at Sh1,500 belonging to Jane Chepkemoi on August 6 at Koibiyot village, in Njoro Sub-County.

Kipkoech was also accused of being found in need of care and protection by officers at the same village and also previously suspected of engaging in petty theft after the chicken were found in his possession.

Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Wakumile Ndururu, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Wakumile ordered Kipkoech to be taken for age assessment at Nakuru Provincial General Hospital to determine his exact age after told the court that he was a minor.

The magistrate told the prosecution to consider that Kipkoech might not be a minor pending the examination.

The case will be mentioned on September 15 for the report to be availed before court.
