Police in Ruiru are holding two suspects arrested on Sunday night after an attempted theft was thwarted by police on patrol in Murera, Juja Sub-County.
The two, Jamleck Maina 26 and Peterson Mutwiri 28, were caught trying to break into a general shop in Murera at around 9pm by a resident who informed the police.
Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said the partnership between police and members of public in the area has given criminals a notice that they have no space in the area.
He added that Nyumba Kumi initiative has been successful in the whole of his area of administration adding that the security officers have been on high alert to counter the criminals planning any heinous activity.
Thuranira lauded the public saying that he is delighted with the way the cases of insecurity are being handled in the area by the residents as they have abandoned lynching which was so popular earlier.
“I am glad the public is giving the police time to investigate and prosecute the suspects without lynching them anytime they are caught as it used to be. It’s good to serve everyone with his/her justice,” the officer noted.
The two were set to appear in court on Monday.
