Three suspects of whom two are brothers were on Wednesday arrested by police officers in Mombasa County for being in possession of 209 rolls of bhang and 750 tablets of rohypnol.
The arrests were made separately when police officers nabbed the first suspect who led the officers to where the other two were hiding.
Regional Police Commander Robert Kitur who confirmed the arrest said they apprehended the first suspect only identified as Rasta in Guraya, Mombasa.
“The suspect has been on our radar for a long time and it was a matter of time before we made our move and arrested him,” Kitur said while speaking to journalists at his office.
He said they interrogated the suspect and he led the police to Ujamaa where the siblings were found hiding. The police arrested the two brothers identified as Hassan Juma alias Toly and Juma Mjomba.
The commander said, “We also found Sh300,000 and two pangas when we arrested the other two suspects who were working together with the first suspect. The suspects are currently in police custody and they will be arraigned in court once we are done with our investigations.”
The police commander said they believe the suspects to be notorious drug traffickers in the county and they will assist the police in their investigations.
He further said that the police will not relent in its war against drug trafficking and urged the public to work closely with the police to curb the vice.
