Residents of Ruiru have been cautioned to be on the alert because of an increase in cases of child kidnapping.
Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said many cases of child kidnapping have been reported to his office.
He addressed the press on Thursday as he reported about an eight-year-old girl who has gone missing.
The girl went missing as she went to school.
He confirmed that six children had been reported missing in the past two months.
Thuranira said parents have a big roll to play in curbing the cases.
He said some parents report the cases late to his office making investigations difficult.
"Parents should be very careful with their children and I advise that they should accompany their children to school," he said.
"Communication between parents and teachers is also key in containing these cases."
He also advised parents and teachers to educate their children to avoid speaking to strangers or taking gifts from strangers.
