Paul Macharia Konje, a Police Officer based in Naivasha town has come to the rescue of alcoholics in the area.
This follows the recent crackdown on local brews which has hit several parts of the country.
The administration officer who is in the rank of a corporal has come out and offered provide counseling and shelter to over 50 youths as part of rehabilitation in line with the ongoing illicit brews crackdown.
This action was prompted by the fact that emerged that some youth from Karati village, which is a few kilometers from Naivasha town, were suffering from serious withdrawal symptoms on as a result of lack of alcohol.
“The fight against the illicit brews cannot just end by at discarding the brews and closing down factories involved in its production, something more needs to be done,” said Paul Macharia Konje.
Macharia who is also a pastor at Victory Outreach Church also said that two of the youths from the area had been admitted to hospital as a result of withdrawal symptoms. He however thanked the president for the directive and called on all well-wishers to come to the aid of the desperate youths who are still recovering adding that some were orphans and had no one to take care of them.
“I laud the president for the directive he issued on illicit brews because it will reduce sale of illicit brews in the country and make our youths more productive, however we need to come out to help the youths who have been affected”
