Police in Juja are investigating an incident where a student was attacked and murdered by unknown assailants on Friday morning while heading to school.
Julius Karagu, 22, a student at Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), was heading to school when he was attacked by a gang of three men at around 7am and killed.
According to a fellow student who witnessed the incident, the gang had been waiting for the deceased at his gate. When they got out ready to walk to school a few metres away, they were attacked. They killed the deceased and left him.
The criminals made away with property of unknown value among them a laptop, mobile phone, shoes and wallet among other things.
Juja police boss Luke Odiwuor said that the incident must have been well planned as they killed him and made away with the property and didn’t harm anyone else in the area.
He condemned the incident saying that they are probing the incident adding they are sure enough to apprehend the suspects. He warned criminals in the area to divert their interest to other activities as their days are numbered.
The institution’s CEO Liz Wanyoike and Administrator Allan Njenga have condemned the incident saying that it has brought about fear to the other students and they might be affected emotionally.
Wanyoike called on the security personnel to ensure they fast-track the investigations.
