Police in Thika are investigating an incident where a middle-aged man was found dead in what they termed as a mysterious death in his residential house in Makongeni’s phase six area on Monday evening.

Makongeni OCS Samuel Khisa told the press that a neighbour who had gone to visit the deceased man commonly known as ‘Mzae’ by the residents, noticed the door had been locked from inside and no one was answering.

The neighbour, according to the officer, called the other residents who broke the door and found the man lying on his bed lifeless.

He added that there was no evidence of any kind of murder in the house as the man had no viscible injuries. He also said that the residents said that the man sells ground nuts in the area in the evening hours and they hadn’t seen him prepare for work yesterday evening therefore raising concerns.

“They noticed that he had not been preparing for his evening work as he usually does and therefore decided to break the door before they called the police to retrieve the body,” Khisa said.

The OCS said that the police will probe on the incident and confirmed that the body was taken to General Kago funeral home in Thika town waiting post mortem.

He lauded the move by the public in the area saying that it is always good to be concerned about your neighbour and ensure all the people around you are safe.
