Police in Kisii have launched investigations into the death of an 85-year-old woman whose body was found in her house on Wednesday morning.

The body had stubs on the chest and back police told reporters at Itierio village near Suneka town where the incident occurred.

According to the late's workman, Douglas Mekubo, the woman who woke up every morning to milk cows did not wake up as usual on the  fateful day.

"This made me suspect something was wrong," Mekubo told reporters in an interview.

"I went to her house and got the shock of my life. The first thing I saw was her body. It had stubs on the stomach and chest. Her eyes had also been plucked out."

Mekubo said the lady slept alone in the house.

Gesonso police station OCS Johnson Mkhoka said three people have already been arrested in connection with the incident which shocked villagers.

The arrested are detained at Gesonso police station and are helping police in investigation.

“We will get to know who broke into her house and stabbed her and the reason to why they had to do so," Mkhoka said.

The deceased stayed along in the usually quiet compound since her three sons live in Nairobi Mekubo said.

The body of the late was taken to Nyangena Mission Hospital mortuary where a postmortem will be conducted.
