Two police officers from Ruiru are nursing injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned on Friday as they tried to keep up to speed with the presidential escort vehicles on Thika Road.
The vehicle was speeding to a venue where the president was scheduled to stop and address members of the public.
The two officers were taken to Ruiru District Hospital where they are receiving medical attention. According to a police source who sought anonymity, the officers are in stable condition.
Operations were slowed down on the Thika Superhighway in the afternoon as the President made several stopovers addressing huge crowds that had gathered to listen to him. This caused huge traffic congestion on the highway which is blamed for the accident.
By the time of going to press, the police vehicle was yet to be towed away.
