Police in Kisumu have been urged to move with speed and arrest a suspect who killed two village elders over the weekend in Central Kisumu Ward.

Kisumu County assembly acting speaker Pamelo Omino said the two village elders lost their lives after they attempted to stop a fight between a woman and her husband. She said the third person survived but with injuries and is still admitted in a local hospital.

“It is a sad situation that those who went to separate the couples from fighting are the ones who got killed,” she said.

She said the act angered locals who later raided the home of the suspect and found many weapons.

Speaking to the press at his office in Kisumu on Tuesday, Omino who is also the area ward rep said the suspect is on the run. She added that the police must ensure he is arrested to bring justice to the affected families. She said the death of the two village elders who are also brothers has left a void in the community.

Omino also announced that a family in her ward is in pain and agony after their 7-year-old daughter disappeared after a church conference.

She said loss of the primary school girl has left the parents in shock adding that the public should volunteer information to help locate her.
