The Peace Ambassadors in Eldoret town yesterday gathered at the Nandi Gardens in Eldoret to offer thanksgiving prayers for the safe return of the president from The Hague.
The members led by Rose Kisama also used the forum to ask Kenyans to unite irrespective of their tribes and backgrounds.
“On Monday, we gathered here to pray for the president and also to ask God to give his deputy wisdom as he was left in charge of the government and the country. Today we are here to say that we have seen God’s presence,” Kisama said.
She added that the President’s return message was powerful and reconciliatory in nature.
“We saw Kenyans come out in large numbers to welcome the president regardless of their tribes. We were also happy to hear the president ask us to come together and be Kenyans and not concentrate much on the tribes we come from. That is how it ought to be,” said Kisama.
Eldoret is a cosmopolitan town with a representation of almost all of the Kenya 42 tribes. It was one of the worst hit areas during the post-election violence of 2007/2008.
