Thika OCPD Francis Muthamia has asked security firms to vet their employees before recruiting them to prevent cases of criminals being hired as security personnel.
This comes after some of the area residents complained about theft in their premises despite them being guarded throughout by private security firms.
Speaking at Kiganjo slums on Saturday the OCPD said that they will investigate the companies whose employees have been suspected of theft and colluding with thugs and if found culpable, confiscate their licenses.
He said the job of every security guard is to safeguard the property he has been entrusted to and deliver to the best of his ability. He said that any guard should be held accountable for his deeds.
He commended the public for airing their grievances saying he would launch investigations into the matter to ensure private security guards are not abetting crime.
“We will investigate the private companies that are going contrary to the security laws and revoke their licenses if need be. We will need your cooperation in getting the information,” he assured.
