Security officers in Kiambu sub county on Monday raided a residence in Kirigiti area recovering an assortment of stolen goods.
The team, which was acting on a tip off from members of the public, also arrested 5 men and a lady identified as a daughter of the owner of the house believed to be a hiding joint for criminals.
Police recovered 8 new bicycles, 1 motorcycle, Electronics, motor vehicle parts, and several building materials including tiles, ceramics and several plastic water pipes. The six were also found in possession of 41 stones of bhang and 10 litres of illicit brew.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng’etich said that the area chief John Kinya, was informed that the house had been used for hiding stolen property for a long time. Residents claim that the suspects have been concealing their activities by storing scrap metal and plastics.
Ngetich lauded the ‘Nyumba Kumi’ initiative saying it was having a big impact in the area as people continued to relay information to security agents. The owner of the house is yet to be found.
The recovered property was taken to Kiambu police station. The police boss has called on members of the public who have lost property in the last 3 months to visit the police station. He said that security has been intensified in the area and crackdown on criminal activities will continue.
