Public health officials in Nyamira confiscated expired goods from various hotels and food vendors in Kebirigo during a two day raid.
According to Nyamira County Public Health Director Mr Andrew Ombati, the two day inspection which led to an arrest of over 20 food vendors In Kebirigo led to his team recovering expired consumer goods which paused health hazard to the consumers.
The commodities which included soft drinks, margarines, coffee in sachets and food spices, were seized from retail shops and depots by a team of public health officials during the crackdown.
He said the team was able to confiscate the goods after getting good cooperation from members of the public.
The officer said those arrested on Thursday will be arraigned in court over the matter.
He pointed out expired consumer goods were a health hazard and appealed to consumers to report incidents of expired goods to the public health office for action.
