In order to see Kisii County environmentally compatible with the NEMA regulations and county by-laws, the Kisii residents have been warned against throwing waste within the town and its vicinity.

Speaking during a cleanup exercise which was organized by the Kisii County in partnership with the Kisii University students on Friday, the public health officer who supervised the exercise, Mary Kerubo said that majority of the people living in Kisii neighborhood have been over-looking the hygienic aspect of the town, whose situation she said need a serious engagement from all responsible citizens.

Kerubo also expressed her concern over the increasing number of residents who have been polluting the environment by urinating wherever they are caught with call of nature and warned them against the act saying that whoever caught on the wrong side of the law will be faced with strict legal action.

“We need each and every person to carry the responsibility in his or her back in ensuring the surrounding areas is kept clean every time,” the officer noted.

In their part, the residents who spoke to the press expressed their pleasure saying that they will work hand in hand with the county in seeing the Kisii Township is always safe hygienically.

The cleaning exercise started from the Kisii University Main Campus main gate and extended to Mwembe area and along the Kisii-Kilgoris road.
