A group of disgruntled members of parties allied to the Jubilee Alliance Party have asked the Gesima MCA to quit the opposition and join government.

Led by Chepilat MCA Alfayo Mwongeresa  at Mwongori Catholic church, they faulted the outspoken MCA for pushing Nyamira County government agendas in favour of Cord, which controls majority in Nyamira - instead of opposition URP that sponsored him.

According to them, Mr Ken Atuti, who is also deputy leader of minority, has been compromised by the John Nyagarama-government, hence making it difficult for the opposition to push its agendas in the county assembly.

“He has failed the opposition by constantly supporting the government. He has never done his job properly as leader of minority and that is why we want him out. The opposition has also an agenda that must be passed,” Alfayo said.

They urged the leadership of Jubilee to officially notify Mr Atuti before they oust him from his current position and subsequently out of the mother party that sponsored him.

“The rules are very clear and he has apparently violated them. Officials from headquarters must know this before we oust him from his current position or even throw him out of the party. He should join Cord officially,” added Mr Peter Onsongo, a URP member.

However, speaking during a different function, Mr Atuti dismissed the outcry from Jubilee members as ‘petty and unwarranted’, and asked them to support the county leadership for the sake of development.

“I don’t really know their problem but the fact remains that I will always support the government of the day just like the national government,” he said.
