Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel, on Saturday paid a courtesy call on Governor Kinuthia Mbugua in his office to introduce Nakuru women to table-banking. Mrs Ruto said table banking was a government initiative in poverty eradication. She revealed that the government had set aside Sh700 million for the project. “We will first do capacity building and educate the women on new agricultural technologies before rolling out in Nakuru,” she said. “Table-banking has already been established in 29 counties and we plan to cover all the 47 counties by the end of this year,” Mrs Ruto added.
The governor thanked Mrs Ruto for visiting Nakuru County, saying he was impressed during the first issuance of dividends at Rongai. "It is important for the women to be informed of the tendering process. Many women fail to benefit because they lack knowledge on how table banking is done," Mbugua added.
