The former prime minister said that he is not opposed to the NYS saying that it is national institution that he supports.

"Slum upgrading programme we support. I am the one who started slum upgrading programme in our country. So we fully support the work NYS is doing," said Odinga.

Odinga, however, said that he differs with the transparency on the procurement process of the projects.

The Cord leader Odinga was speaking during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Kisumu Catholic Archbishop Zacchaues Okoth on Monday afternoon when he said that he strongly support women and believes in the two thirds gender rule yet to be introduced in the country.

"We support everybody and we are not targeting any particular individual in this regard," said Odinga.

Earlier on, nominated Senator Joy Gwendo had alleged that the opposition government is trying to fight a woman and NYS's work.

"Your Excellency allow me to congratulate you for the good work you are doing with NYS. Our youths, our young mothers are employed and anybody trying to tell our people that this project is a wrong thing is cheating our people," said senator Gwendo.

She added, "NYS is changing our country and anybody trying to fight NYS is trying to fight a woman and anybody trying to fight a woman does not want this country to move on."
