Police in Kikuyu Sub County have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly stabbed his wife in Zambezi to death then escaped.
The couple is said to have had arguments in the recent past over what residents claimed was the suspect’s alcoholism.
According to neighbours, the man was a drunkard and when the fight against illicit brew started, he has remained in the house and not working. The wife has been demanding that he goes to work.
Neighbours say that his wife kept yelling at him asking him to go and find a job to sustain the family since she was doing small scale businesses to sustain the family.
Confirming the incident, Kikuyu OCPD Mr Mutune Maweu said neighbours of the two reported to the police after one of them tried knocking the door this afternoon after she failed to see the man the whole of the morning hours.
Maweu said neighbours broke into the house when it was not opened and saw the body of the woman which had been stabbed on the left side of the chest with a kitchen knife.
He said that the crime may have been committed early today and the suspect escaped.
Maweu said police have launched investigations in regard to the matter and will soon arrest the suspect.
"Police have started the search for the suspect and we appeal to members of the public to report the whereabouts of the suspect," said Maweu.
He, however, advised members of the public to find relevant solutions to their domestic issues other than committing crime.
He said that the body was removed to Kikuyu Hospital Mortuary.
