Chiefs and their Assistants in Kisii county have commenced registration of persons affected by the sudden stop of illegal brew, this following a directive which was given by National Agency for Control Against Drugs Abuse chairman, John Mututho.

Locals are urged to present names of those addicted and face difficulties at the moment after the countrywide crackdown on illicit brew production.

Speaking on Friday in Kisii, Nyamage Assistant Chief, Sarah Makori said that locals need to register with her office to see such people taken to health institutions for free medical attention.

“We have actually launched registration of persons affected due to the disbandment of illegal brew countrywide, this is aimed to rehabilitate them to come back to normalcy, we urge the public to assist us identify such person to help them regain the normal life.” She said.

Registration of the addicts is expected to be carried out country wide as funds have already been set aside by NACADA to cater for their medication.

This comes as scores of people have been reported to have lost their lives in various parts of the country due to inadequate brew which has been on decline following massive crackdown which is underway.
