After holding the first ever prayer meeting since the inception of the devolved system of governance, religious leaders in Nakuru county have expressed confidence in Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s leadership.

Speaking on Friday after attending the prayers at the Rift Valley Sports club, the clerics called on cooperation and accountability from all leaders in ensuring the governor achieves his goals.

Bishop Jonathan Opicho, chairperson of the Nakuru Church Elders Council who spoke on behalf of the more than 20 leaders said leadership was a calling from God that should be spruced up by respecting and worshiping him all the time.

“Such initiates are proof enough that we are under the leadership of a governor who understands the importance of respecting God, that is very important,” he said.

He further noted that Mbugua’s development was worth commending arguing that from visible projects, investment opportunities, youths and women empowerment; the county had positively transformed.

“Let all stakeholders show their solidarity behind his leadership and the ultimate goal will be a safe and prosperous Nakuru where our coming generations will be proud of,” Opicho said.

The prayer meeting brought together the top brass of the county leadership, religious leaders from different denominations and private developers.

The meeting, a first of its own was organised by the County, Nakuru Christian Professionals Association and the Nakuru Church Elders Council.
