Kisumu county religious leaders have called on teachers to end their boycott and resume duty as directed by Labour and Employment Relations Court.

Speaking on Sunday at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Kisumu during a fund raiser, the catholic church leaders told teachers to obey the court order and back to class.

This follows a 4 week strike by teachers which has paralysed learning in public schools.

The court gave a ruling on Friday asking teachers to go back to school, suspending the strike for 90 days to allow negotiations between Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and teachers' unions.

“We urge the teachers to heed to the court order ruling made on Friday. This is for the good of our children who have been home for the past 4 weeks,” said Fr Peter Amollo, a priest.
