Bodaboda operators in Nyamira want the county government to repair roads in the county before compelling them to pay tax.

The riders said the roads were too bad to support the growth of their business in the county.

They said the county government's decision to slap a monthly tax on them was welcome, but said they would only pay the money if the county repaired the roads to ease their work.

The riders, majority from Nyansiongo in Borabu constituency said they were ready to support the county government, but on condition the devolved unit showed interest in supporting them.

The riders were speaking to Hivisasa.com on Wednesday.

Among the roads the bodaboda operators want to be repaired include Kijauri-Kineni, Kijauri-Manga and Manga-Kahawa.

They spoke after Governor John Nyagarama called on residents in the county to support the government through prompt tax payment.
