Businesspeople in Kisii town have challenged the county government to find ways of ending the prostitution menace involving underage girls.
Addressing journalists in the town on Sunday, the traders, led by Martha Kerubo Orina, said the county government must put an end to the vice.
“We have asked the police to stop the vice but no action has been taken,” added Joseph Bibao.
“I appeal to the county government led by Governor James Ongwae to remove the girls from the streets. It is shameful for us when we hear news that our young girls in the town are involved in such acts. This is one of the ways leading to the rise in the spread of HIV Aids in our county,” noted Irene Omwenga.
Meanwhile, the traders have urged the county government to set up a training centre for the minors who will be rescued from the streets.
