Nyamira government has been lauded over its commitment to improve infrastructure in the region to foster development.
On Monday, residents of Bomba hailed the county’s leadership for renovating the Nyamira-Bombo Road thus enabling farmers to transport their produce to the market.
“We are tea farmers and we depend on the crop for survival. Previously, it was cumbersome to transport the produce and as such, farmers incurred big losses. This is a great job by the county government and a big victory for farmers in this region,” said Alfred Mogusu on behalf of the residents.
They called for a continuous maintenance of roads saying they were key in improving the economy as they will open up the region to other markets.
“The most important thing now is maintenance and even the Governor (John Nyagarama) knows that. We would like to see the standards maintained if we want our economy to improve. It will be difficult for us to access markets without proper roads,” he added.
Roads Chairman Ben Sironga told Hivisasa.com that his committee was working hard to ensure all major roads were refurbished.
