The residents of Thika East on Monday took to the streets to pray instead of protesting following the murder of an area businessman by unknown assailants.
The members of public, after the retrieval of the deceased man’s body, went to the scene and knelt down across the road and made prayers at the scene and later prayed at the Muguga police post where it is believed that a number of criminal cases have been reported.
Later on the police officers among them area OCPD Daniel Chacha were made to address the members of public and further address on how they are set to curb the increasing number of crime incidences.
Chacha said that the residents have surprised many and lauded them saying that the police are ready to work hand in hand with the public in curbing crimes and ensuring the security of every resident of the area is guaranteed.
He added that the prayers were meant to strengthen the police working and give them courage of facing the criminals in the area.
The police are pursuing the whereabouts of a criminal gang that attacked and killed a businessperson in the area and made away with unknown amount of cash that he had gone to deposit in his account in Makongeni driving his own vehicle.
