Speaking in Masinga on Wednesday, the residents said the governor should have taken the crucial step a long time ago in a bid to curb corruption in the county.

"Corruption kills a society slowly and it is important for the county boss to start uprooting the corrupt people before they cripple our economy,” said Xavier Kilonzo, a business man in Masinga Town.

"The war against corruption will rid the county of undesirable people and I hope service delivery will improve after the cleanup,” said Simon Silu, a bodaboda operator in Kitangani Town.

However, some residents said Governor Mutua had cracked the whip a bit late in the health sector considering four children had lost their lives under unclear circumstances.

"If this clean-up had started a bit early, maybe these deaths would have been prevented, but it is never too late since other deaths will be prevented,” said Phyllis Mueni, a tailor in Ekalakala Town.
