The Kenya power officer in Ruiru has urged residents to work jointly with the company to avoid power irregularities after they raised concern over recent blackouts.
Speaking in his office in Ruiru, the deputy regional Manager Eng.Kennedy Chege asked the locals to keep calm as the technicians; work on some faulty power lines on their supply connections.
He also called upon the residents to work alongside the company by being their eyes on the ground since several similar blackouts were caused by delayed information on a faulty power lines on their supply connections.
“As a power user, if you spot a line breakage, a faulty connection or a vandal on the power supplies lines it’s your duty to report to the nearest power office or police station. This will help to avoid long power blackouts before the information reaches us through other means,” Mr.Chege insisted.
He added that u the se of the contacts given to the public as emergency numbers, the Mulika Mwizi contact number may also help in faster delivery of our services.
Eng. Chege also apologized to businessmen who may have incurred losses during the one week blackout caused by a break in power line supplying to the area.
David Amara a resident in the area said that power blackout had affected the area for a while. He added that working closely with the KPLC will enable them not suffer in case of any blackout in the area.
The resident hailed the KPLC for being close to the residents to be able to work efficiently in case of any emergencies. He explained that some dangers can be avoided as one can easily contact the power office.
