Residents of Kiambu Sub-County have cautioned against using offensive gestures as it is against the law and it might land them in trouble if a complaint is filed.

According to the Kiambu Sub-County Commander James Mugera, cases of offensive gestures against people are on the rise especially by motorists who use them when offended on the roads.

The officer who was speaking from his office on Tuesday said the gestures were common which many people found offensive and even insulting. He added that the reports they get mostly are of reckless drivers who when confronted use the gestures as a way of insulting the others.

Mugera noted that although most people found even pointing a finger rude and possess a negative impression, there were those that were highly regarded as even a taboo in other communities.

The officer explained that although gestures might not leave a mark or injury to be used as evidence, by having an eyewitness one can file a complaint. He said that after the complaint, they carry out investigations arrest offender if there is proof.
